We will be then march from Trafalgar Square to 10 Downing Street to deliver an open letter calling for an immediate ceasefire of all hostilities against healthcare workers and facilities in conflict zones.

Protest with us on the 7th of May, 2pm at Trafalgar Square, London, in solidary with health care workers in war zones.

Deliberate attacks on hospitals, healthcare workers and patients can not be accepted or ignored any longer.

The march is supported by: The Phoenix Foundation and Physicians for Human Rights.

Healthcare in war zones is under attack and the situation is deteriorating with devastating consequences. We, as healthcare providers are trained to help those in need – regardless of politics, race, or religion. Now we need YOUR help. We are calling for an IMMEDIATE ceasefire of ALL attacks against healthcare worker’s, facilities and patients within today’s conflict zones.

Over the last five years there has been an alarming increase in attacks against healthcare in conflict zones. Attacks against healthcare is a grave breach of international humanitarian law, yet there has been no accountability against the perpetrators.

We, as a collective of healthcare professionals and NGOs, are calling on governments around the world to take action. The idea for the event comes from MSF and ICRC war surgeon, Mr David Nott, after he suffered the loss of colleagues in Syria.

We will gather together with colleagues and supporters on Sat 7th May in Trafalgar Square, London to call for greater protection, as per the Geneva Conventions when we carry out our work. We will hear testimonies and speeches from witnesses and speakers on the subject.

After observing a minute’s silence in honour of our fallen colleagues and our patients, we will proceed collectively to No. 10 Downing Street to deliver a signed letter to the Prime Minister, David Cameron calling for him to support a ceasefire plan against the targeting of ALL healthcare
workers, facilities and their patients in conflict zones. In Syria, Physicians for Human Rights have documented the unlawful killing of 705 medical personnel and 346 medical facilities attacked since March 2011.

Last year an aerial bombardment of an MSF hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan resulted in the killing of 12 MSF workers and 10 patients including three children. A further 37 people were injured including 19 staff members.

We ask for your participation and to join us on the walk in London on the 7th May 2016. We also ask for your signature on an open letter which we will deliver to 10 Downing Street. To have your endorsement and your presence WILL make a difference.
